2017 Laser Radial Women’s World Championship results – Day 1

Slovenian sailor Kim Pletikos SLO (3-2) started event on top with 5 points, followed by Belgian Evi Van Acker BEL (4-3) and German Svenja Weger GER (8-2) with 7 and 10 points respectively.

Mária Érdi HUN (9-3), Mathilde de Kerangat FRA (4-9), Maité Carlier BEL (11-4) and Monika Mikkola FIN are also close in 5th to 8th places respectively.

Greek sailor Vasileia Karachaliou GRE (5-13) is ranked 11th overall and this were her thoughts after the races; “Today was very tricky. I was playing middle right, but then suddenly after two thirds of the upwind, the left came in. I dropped from being in the top five down 15th with one shift. It was better to pick one side, but I think in the end, the left always paid off and came in suddenly”.

Right after Vasileia, in places 12 to 16 overall appear Marie Bolou FRA (14-7), Marie Barrue FRA (16-6), Cristina Pujol ESP (17-6), Silvia Zennaro ITA (10-14) and Pauline Liebig GER (3-22).
