Great international sailing will be protagonist of the Easter weekend in Ancona, Italy, where the process of registration of the over 250 sailors participating at the 2018 Laser Europa Cup –first of ten events hosted all over Europe and promoted by EurILCA– has just begun.
2018 Laser Europa Cup opens today in Ancona
With the organization of SEF Stamura and the logistical support of Marina Dorica, the event will officially begin today in the waters surrounding the commercial harbor of Ancona, granting a great show and good visibility for all those who wanted to assist to the races from the shore.
The entry list is long and includes 265 sailors that will be split into three Classes (Laser Standard Men, Laser Radial Women and Laser 4.7 Youth), in representation of 21 Countries: most of them coming from the European Union, but there are representatives of many other Countries as well, such as South Africa and India as sample.
The event, coming to conclusion on April 3rd, is the perfect occasion for young sailors to prepare for the 2018 Laser 4.7 Youth European Championships & Trophy that will be held at Sport Sailing Club Rio Iason in Patras, Greece, directly connected to Ancona by ferry.
The coordinator of the event on behalf of SEF Stamura, Elio Libri, commented: “It’s an honor for us to host such an important event in the international sailing scenario. Ancona and Marina Dorica harbor in particular have the greatest sports facility of the Adriatic Sea that, also in the past, allowed the organization of other important sailing events, such as the ORC Worlds in 2013 and the Farr 40 Europeans in 2016. We are working at full rhythm, with the support of our partners, to deliver a great event to all the competitors”.
Races coming so stay tune!
