The 2022 ILCA 6 Women’s & Men’s World Championships concluded this Sunday in Kemah, Texas, United States, after 6 days of competition and all 12 scheduled races met.
Tokyo 2021 Olympic Gold medalist Anne Marie Rindom DEN was crowned new 2022 ILCA 6 Women’s World champion for the third time in her career after winning the 2015 and 2019 editions in Al Mussanah, Oman, and Sakaiminato, Japan, respectively.
“I definitely loved this week. And also made me realize how much I missed to sail Laser (ILCA dinghy). It’s an awesome boat and there’s also so many great sailors, so I couldn’t be more happy to be back” – Anne Marie Rindom DEN
It was a great championship far from home for our European representatives, occupying the first 9 places among 85 sailors from all around the World.
“Today it was a bit stressful because I found myself in the same situation as last year at the Olympics and the year before at the Europeans,” Rindom shares. “It’s always very stressful to be in the leading position going into the last day. And of all people, I know how much you can lose and how much you can gain, so it was very exciting.”
Maud Jayet SUI and Emma Plasschaert BEL escorted Anne Marie on podium, 20 and 22 points behind her.
Women’s World Top 10 rank was completed by Josefin Olsson SWE, Maria Erdi HUN, Maxime Jonker NED, Agata Barwinska POL, Wiktoria Golebiowska POL, Marit Bouwmeester NED and Erika Reineke USA.
“7th at this year World Championship! Lots of ups but lots of opportunities to improve! Good to know where we are at and what to work on. Another test coming up soon #europeans in a month” – Agata Barwinska POL.
