Amazing week for our Radial Youth European sailors winning all four titles granted at the 2018 Laser Radial Youth World Championships in Kiel, Germany. Three of them to Italy and one to England.
With almost 400 sailors between 15 and 18 years (born: 2000 until 2003), our European guys competed with best athletes from 45 nations all around the world and showed they are skilled and ready to fight for many more World Sailing titles in future.
“We had all types of conditions from strong to light, shifting winds. Therefore the best sailors, who could handle all conditions well, did win the titles”, explained Eric Faust, President of ILCA – International Laser Class Association.
2018 Laser Radial Youth Worlds – Final results
Eleven races were sailed within the six days of the 2018 Laser Radial Youth World Championships in Kiel.
Two races per day excepting the final day, where the wind dropped and there was only one race in the end. Just like sunshine and rain took turns, the athletes were also experiencing highs and lows, sometimes winning a race and ending up in the middle of the fleet in the next one.
On this background, Italian sailors were the best and won three of four Radial Youth World championships!
Matilda Talluri ITA was first overall among 96 girl’s fleet and crowned U19 Women’s World champion.
Guido Gallinaro ITA did the same and finished first overall among 269 boys and conquered the U19 Men’s World title.
