European sailors delivered a dominant performance at the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth World Championship in Aarhus, topping both fleets and filling out the majority of the top 10 in each.
Entries are officially open for the 2026 EurILCA Team Racing European Championship, hosted by Kalamaki Nautical Club in Athens this December. Teams of 3 (with mixed gender required) can register now — but spots are limited to 16, first-come, first-served. Deadline: 31 August 2026.

Building breeze up to 14 knots capped off a thrilling final day in Thessaloniki, crowning champions at the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans. Hermione Ghicas GRE and Jiri Tomes CZE took the top titles, as EurILCA thanks the Nautical Athletic Club of Kalamaria Thessaloniki for a memorable championship.
A late start due to light wind didn’t stop the fleets in Thessaloniki, with both boys’ and girls’ groups getting away in 5 to 8 knots and completing two races, bringing the total to 10 races ahead of the championship’s final day.
The final series opened in style in Thessaloniki, with all six fleets completing both scheduled races under ideal conditions of 9 to 12 knots. Sailors were welcomed back to the club with a pasta meal after a smooth day on the water.
A day of mixed conditions in Thessaloniki saw light, shifty breeze and several general recalls give way to a building 11-knot wind for the final set of races. All fleets completed three races, wrapping up the qualifying series ahead of tomorrow’s start of the final series.
A major wind shift forced the Race Committees to abandon and reset both courses on Day 2 in Thessaloniki, but all fleets still managed to complete a new race — with the Boys’ Green group waiting hours for the breeze to return before finally racing late into the evening.
