The 2018 Laser Under 21 European championships concluded today with a last race in Båstad, Sweden, crowning our new champions.
Polish sailors Magdalena Kwasna and Kuba Rodziewicz won the Women and Men Under 21 titles respectively, while Russian Daniil Krutskikh was first among Under 19 fleet.
2018 Laser U21 European championships – Final results
No surprises on the last day of competition, with Magdalena Kwasna POL (1-1-2-2-1-3-4-2-5-1) closing Women’s championship in great shape with 13 points and winning the last race, ratifying her primacy within whole event. Second place for Danish sailor Anna Munch DEN (3-5-1-1-7-1-1-1-10–11) with 20 points. Third place for Italian sailor Carolina Albano ITA (2-2-3-4-2-4-6-3-7-3) with 23.
Russian sailors Ekaterina Bereza RUS (5-3-5-5-3-7-3-4-15–10) and Mariia Kislukhina RUS (4-4-4-3-9-8-12-8-4-2) were finally fourth and fifth overall with 35 and 37 units respectively.
Caroline Rosmo NOR, Ekaterina Sanko BLR, Lin Pletikos SLO, Stephanie Wingeatt GBR and Ekaterina Guseva RUS completed Women’s Top 10.
No last minute changes on Men’s championships either, with Polish sailor Kuba Rodziewicz POL (3-1-3-3-1-2-33 RET-1-3-2) conquering Under 21 championship with 16 points, escorted by German sailor Max Wilken GER (8-1-1-1-3-5-12-3-5-6) with 25.
Third place overall for our new Under 19 champion Daniil Krutskikh RUS (9-2-9-3-4-1-10-12-1-33 UFD) with 42.
Berkay Abay TUR (19-6-2-1-6-4-3-16-9-14) and Johnny Durcan IRL (5-7-12–13-11-8-1-6-8-5) were fourth and fifth overall with 45 and 51 units.
Great last race for Finish sailor Nooa Laukkanen FIN (6-13-1-22-6-9-8-9-33 UFD-3) arriving on 3rd, raising to 7th place overall and winning the 2nd place on the U19 podium. Third U19 place for Finland also, with Aleksi Tapper FIN (9-5-2-4-11-33 DNF-13-10-15-33 RET) finishing championship on 12th overall with 69, just 1 point in front of Turkish Alp Baltali TUR on 13th.
