The 2020 Laser Europa Cup BUL concluded today in Varna, Bulgaria, after 3 days of competition.
40 sailors from Bulgaria, Ukraine and Austria participated of the event, hosted by the Municipality of Varna, Bulgarian Sailing Federation and SC Black Sea Breeze.
Among the official guests were the regional governor Stoyan Pasev, the director of the Sports Directorate at the Municipality of Varna Christian Dimitrov and the executive director of the Black Sea Sports Clubs Association Boncho Bonev. The President of the Bulgarian Sailing Federation Rosen Marangozov officially opened the competition, which was part not only of the 2020 Laser Europa Cup but also a rehearsal for the 2021 Laser Senior European Championships, which will take place on this same waters the next year, from May 15th to 22nd.
Largest fleet were the Laser 4.7 with 23 competitors. After 8 races, the local sailor Daniel Yordanov BUL was the overall champion with 10 points, escorted on podium by the U16 winner Bogdan Ruhlin UKR with 20 points. Third place overall for Mihail Berberov BUL with 24. Laser 4.7 Girl’s champion was Stanislava Todorova BUL with 30 points and ranked 4th overall.
Mariela Nikolova BUL was the Overall and Women’s Laser Radial champion, matching 12 points with Men’s champion Clement Sarastov BUL. Third place overall for Kenia Andrii UKR with 20 units.
The Laser Standard championship was dominated by Ukranian sailors Ivan Zhukalin UKR and Valeriy Kudriashov UKR with 9 and 11 points respectively. Third place on podium for local Zlatko Atanasov BUL with 23.
