Final results – 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup Spain

The first of the 2022 EurILCA Europa Cup Trophy’s regattas concluded this afternoon in Port de Pollença, Spain.

An impeccable organization by the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença and great sailing conditions allowed all 8 scheduled races to be played for the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 fleets, and 7 races for the ILCA 4.

Today the wind was lighter than the previous days, as well as the swell on course, with a breeze varying from 8-12 knots.

Traditional paella was served to all the sailors and staff after the races while waiting for the prizes at the Closing Ceremony.

Everyone was really happy to be here and enjoying of this fantastic championship, the first one we manage in this beautiful sailing spot. Congrats to the organisers and we hope we can repeat it!

ILCA 7 final results

The Malayan sailor Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy MAS rocked this weekend and early won the ILCA 7 championship today with one race still to be contested. The second place was for the Argentine sailor Agustín Vidal ARG, finishing one point ahead of the Under 21 champion Gonzalo Suarez ESP, from Club Náutico Altea.

The fourth place overall and second U21 position was for the Polish sailor Michal Krasodomski POL. Norwegian Theodor Middelthon NOR was first among the Under 19 fleet and ranked seventh overall.


ILCA 6 final results

After the retirement of the overnight leader Maxim Jonker NED, who decided to rest before coming back to Palma for the Princesa Sofia Trophy, the ILCA 6 championship was served for any of the other great Olympic sailors who where participating of this Europa Cup in Pollença. The competition was very tight in points and finally it was the Croatian sailor Elena Boroveva CRO who won the first spot with 14, only one unit ahead of the reigning 2021 ILCA 6 Women’s World champion Emma Plasschaert BEL. The third place on podium was for the Hungarian Olympic representative Maria Erdi HUN with 16.

It was a great weekend also for the North American sailor Charlotte Rose USA, who finished just one point out of the podium in fourth place overall.

The Cyprus Olympic representative Marilena Makri CYP was first among the Under 21 fleet, finishing eight overall. The Irish sailor Jonathan O’Shaughnessy IRL was the Under 19 champion on place ninth in the main ranking.


ILCA 4 final results

The Spanish sailor Adriana Castro ESP led the ILCA 4 competition from the beginning and finally crowned Overall and Girl’s champion with 12 points. Two points behind her finished the Boy’s champion Xavi Caldentey ESP with 14. The third place overall was for the Under 16 champion Emilios Max Boeros CYP from Cyprus. Fourth and fifth overall places for Xavier Garcia ESP and Pol Nuñez ESP respectively.
