Both ILCA 6 Gold medals were ultimately won by the Italian representatives Maria Vittoria Arseni and Antonio Pascali, crowning them as the new 2024 Youth Sailing World Champions in the Female and Male Dinghy championships, respectively.
After 9 races over 5 days of competition on Lake Garda, the Silver medals were also secured by European representatives.
In the women’s event, Maria Vittoria Arseni ITA held her own against Greece’s Hermionie Ghicas GRE as the USA’s Isabella Mendoza Cabezas USA claimed third upon protest. Italy’s own Arseni tallied a winning 33-point total, 13 points clear of Ghicas in the Silver medal position.

In the Men’s ILCA 6, Antonio Pascali ITA was the victor following an impressive spell, holding off stiff competition from the Netherlands’ Hidde Schraffordt NED to take the trophy by 13 points. Weka Bhanubandh THA sealed a bronze medal for Thailand at the Championships as a final-day bullet saw him climb up the standings.

The hosting nation rocketed to claim six world titles on Lake Garda thanks to countless displays of precision and skill across 11 events and six classes, retaining the Nations Trophy award.
A total of 418 sailors representing 70 countries enjoyed a memorable week in Northern Italy, and many will return again in 2025 for the next edition of the event in Vilamoura, Portugal.
