Two races were completed on first day of the 2017 Laser Radial Youth World Championships in Medemblik, Netherlands.
390 sailors from 46 countries spread across 6 fleets began racing under sunny skies and light wind on the IJsselmeer, the iconic sailing waters of Medemblik.
2017 Laser Radial Youth World Championships – Day 1 results – Women
Great start for European sailors holding first 10 spots of Women’s championship, lead by Lin Pletikos SLO (1-2) with 3 points.
Second place for Julia Buesselberg GER (4-1), just 2 points behind.
Third and fourth places for Ekaterina Bereza RUS (6-3) and Annabelle Westerhof NED (4-5), both with 9 units.
Matilda Nicholls GBR, Florence Permantier GER, Justine Van Tongel BEL, Emma Savelon NED and Valeria Lomatchenko RUS are ranked 5th to 9th, all of them draw in 10 points.
Hannah Anderssohn GER closes provisional Top 10 World rank with 14 units.
2017 Laser Radial Youth World Championships – Day 1 results – Men
Caelin Winchcombe AUS, Nicholas Bezy HKG and Matias Dietrich ARG are holding Men’s provisional podium after first day of races, all of them draw in 4 points.
Fourth overall and just 1 point behind leaders is Maor Ben Harosh ISR (2-3) with 5.
Provisional 5th and 6th places are also occupied by European sailors Lorenzo Masetti ITA and Yaël Poupon FRA, with 8 and 9 points respectively.
Marko Smolic CRO and Pandelis Kirpoglou GRE are also among Top 10, occupying 8th and 9th places with 13 units.
