2017 Laser U21 World Championships concluded yesterday in Nieuwpoort, Belgium, where European sailors dominated boy’s and girl’s competition during whole event.
After 10 races under different sailing conditions our young Laser sailors finally got all first places on podiums.
U21 Laser World Championships – Laser Radial – Girl’s – Final results
Hungarian sailor Mária Érdi HUN (1-
10-1-2-1- 31-1-1-1-8) ratified his great performance finally winning 6 of 10 races and becoming new Laser Radial U21 World Champion with 16 points, followed by German U19 sailor Hannah Anderssohn GER (10-6- 18-1-2-1-7-3-8-4) with 32. Bronze medal was for Polish sailor Magdalena Kwasna POL (3-1- 19– BFD-5-11-2-2-9-2) with 35. Fourth place overall for French sailor Loiuse Cervera FRA with 39 units.
Mirthe Akkerman GER, Aisling Keller IRL, Anna Munch DEN, Aoife Hopkins IRL and Carolina Albano ITA were also part of Top 10, occupying 6th to 10th places respectively.
Fifth place was finally for current World Youth champion Dolores Moreira URU from Uruguay.
65 girls participated of this World Championship.
U21 Laser World Championships – Laser Standard – Boy’s – Final results
Boy’s competition showed a tight end between our recent European Laser U21 champion and vice-champion Joel Rodriguez Perez ESP (1-3-2-1-1-1-
BFD-1- 16-4) and Jonatan Vadnai HUN (1-2-4-1-2-1- 20-2- 13-1). Finally Spanish sailor prevailed on score, winning the first spot again but draw in 14 points with Vadnai. Bronze medal was for Daniel Whiteley GBR (6-1-6-3-1- 24-3-3-6- 44) with 29 units.
Places 4th to 8th were occupied by Jack Cookson GBR, Sam Whaley GBR, Philipp Loewe GER, Gaston Morvan FRA and Max Wilken GER respectively.
