The 2019 Laser 4.7 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy started today in Hyeres, France.
A cloudy day with medium to strong winds allowed completion of two scheduled races per fleet.
2019 Laser 4.7 Youth European Championships – Day 1 results – Boys
267 boys were divided in four fleets, three of them on course A and the fourth one sharing course B with the girls.
After this first two races we have 5 male sailors from 5 different nations leading with 3 points: Roko Stipanovic CRO (2-1), Niccolo Nordera ITA (2-1), Paul Hameeteman NED (2-1), Jordi Lladó Duran ESP (2-1) and Georgios Papadakos GRE (1-2).
British sailor Harvey Leigh GBR (9-2) is leading the U16 championship in 14th place overall, escorted by Pol Font Reyero ESP (5-11) and Jens Kaastad Ørjavic NOR (7-13) on 18th and 27th places respectively.
2019 Laser 4.7 Youth European Championships – Day 1 results – Girls
Two fleets for the 130 girls competing in this championships, with Dutch Marissa Ibjen NED (4-4) leading with 8 points, followed by Italians Maria Giulia Cicchine ITA (7-3) and Beatrice Ine ITA (3-9) with 10 and 12 units respectively.
Very close to them are Miriam Sitges Nicolau ESP (1-12) and Ursula Balas CRO (2-11) with 13 in 4th and 5th overall.
Polish sailor Laura Szulc POL (8-6) leads the U16 championship in 6th place overall, followed by Bulgarian Stanislava Todorova BUL (6-14) and Polish Dominica Raszka POL (18-5) in 12th and 16th overall places.
