Very long day on water today in Athens, with the expected thermal wind only appearing lately in the afternoon. After several hours, finally all six fleets concluded the Qualifying series with 4 and 5 races complete.
The girl’s could complete 5 races on course A, with Cyprus sailor Marilena Makri CYP (1-2-1-3-5) leading with 7 points, followed by Giorgia Cingolani ITA (21-1-5-1-5) and Rosine Baudet SUI (10-4-1-5-3) with 12 and 13 points respectively.
Girl’s Under 17 championship is led by recent 2019 Laser 4.7 European champion Alessia Palanti CZE (ex ITA – first time competing for Czech Republic) with 35 points and ranked 15th overall, followed by Marissa Ijben NED and Josephine Heegaard DEN with 41 and 46 points respectively.
Three boy’s fleet on course B and another one on course A could only complete 4 races during this Qualifying series, with German sailor Mewes Wieduwild GER (2-1-10-1) on top of competition with 4 points, closely followed by first U17 sailor Ido Rachmani ISR (3-1-4-1) and Sofiane Karim FRA (1-3-3-2) with 5 and 6 points respectively.
Jordi Lladó Durán ESP and Jason Kefallonitis GRE are 2nd and 3rd U17 sailors with 12 and 13 points, being 7th and 8th overall respectively.
The 2019 Laser Radial Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy will continue today with the Final series and running until Saturday 6th here in Athens.
