Regrettably, the second day of competition at the 2024 ILCA 4 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Izola, Slovenia, concluded without any racing due to insufficient wind conditions.
Following a 1.5-hour delay on shore and an additional 2-3 hours on the water, the Race Committee ultimately made the call to return all sailors to the club, as wind speeds never exceeded 4 knots throughout the afternoon.
Despite the absence of sailing action, a delightful pasta meal awaited them at the club, offering a chance to relax and enjoy of a beautiful evening and sunset.
With four more days of races remaining, there is optimism that the schedule can be regained.
The plan for tomorrow includes 3 races per fleet, with the first warning signal at 12:00. Coaches meeting at 10:00.
This year, the competition feature the participation of 407 young sailors, comprising 243 boys and 164 girls from 38 different nations, with 34 of them coming from Europe. Among these sailors, 148 are under the age of 16, making them eligible to compete for both the Overall and U16 prizes.
