2026 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans Day 3

Day 3 in Thessaloniki: Qualifying Series Complete After Mixed Conditions

Racing got underway as scheduled at 15:00 for the final day of qualifying at the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Thessaloniki.

With one race still owed from Day 2, the plan for the day was to run three races per fleet where possible, giving the Race Committee a chance to complete the qualifying series before tomorrow’s start of the final series.

Sailors faced a light and shifty breeze of 6 to 8 knots through the afternoon for the first two sets of races. Several general recalls prompted the Race Committee to bring out the Black Flag for a number of starts, as fleets battled tricky conditions on both courses.

The wind picked up to 11 knots for the final set of races, and all fleets completed their third race of the day, returning to shore between 19:00 and 19:30.

Back at the club, sailors were welcomed with a traditional Greek barbecue of souvlaki, a well-deserved treat to close out the qualifying series.

With three races sailed, the qualifying series is now complete, setting up the final series which gets underway tomorrow.
