The third day of racing at the 2024 ILCA Master European Championships in Portugal was marked by favorable winds and significant swells.
The day began with a two-hour postponement on shore due to severe weather conditions, including heavy rain and poor visibility.
Once conditions improved, the Race Committee decided to allow sailors to head out for races, implementing a single race course for all fleets. Although the rain had stopped and the overall weather had improved, strong winds and large swells still posed challenges on the water.
The plan was to conduct one race for the ILCA 7 fleet, followed by two races for the ILCA 6 fleet, weather permitting. The Legends fleet (75+ years old) was previously advised to remain on shore for the day.
Ultimately, these circumstances allowed for only one race to be completed by all fleets. After an exciting and challenging experience, all sailors returned safely to shore.
