The European Laser under 21 Championships & Trophy 2017 started today in Douarnenez, France. All 88 sailors (71 boys and 17 girls) could complete both races scheduled under cold and rainy weather. Wind conditions were SW 10/12 knots on first race and SSW 10/15 knots on second one.

British sailors dominated first day of competition in Douarnenez, France. Daniel Whiteley GBR (2-1) and Sam Whaley GBR (3-1) were the best today in Blue and Yellow fleets, counting 3 and 4 points respectively. Third place is for Polish sailor Jakub Rodziewicz POL (3-3) with 6.
Simon Morgan FRA (10-6) is U19 leader and also current best local sailor in 10th place overall. Victor Carn FRA (4-14) is 2nd U19 and ranked 14th.

European Laser U21 championships – Day 1 – Girl’s results
Girls competition is headed by Laura Oliva Vidal ESP (1-2) with 3 units, followed by Irish sailors Aoife Hopkins IRL (3-1), Sally Bell IRL (7-3) and Aisling Keller IRL (4-8) with 4, 10 and 12 points respectively.
