Final results – 2026 EurILCA Europa Cup Austria

The 2026 EurILCA Europa Cup AUT delivered a full mix of conditions, keeping sailors and race officials on their toes throughout the regatta. Racing swung from promising breeze to frustrating lulls and shifty patches, demanding patience and adaptability from the fleet.

One morning began with a pleasant southerly breeze, and racing got underway on schedule with gusts reaching up to 12 knots for the ILCA 7 start. Following a general recall, the ILCA 6 class was restarted under a black flag disqualification (BFD), while the ILCA 4 class raced under starting rule U. As the day progressed, however, the wind deteriorated, dropping to 4–5 knots with frequent shifts, forcing the race committee to abandon racing for the ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 classes. The ILCA 7 class managed to complete its race and secured a valid result for the day. After competitors were towed back to the harbour, officials waited out the afternoon as the wind shifted west without ever stabilizing enough for fair racing, and the AP over A signal was raised in the late afternoon — sailors closed out the day with a traditional Austrian dumpling dinner.

On previous day, conditions opened on an optimistic note before race officials quickly realized there wasn’t enough wind to start. Sailors who hadn’t yet launched were briefly relieved by an AP signal keeping them ashore, but the fleet was soon sent out to wait for the wind offshore. Several starting attempts with wind from the south proved unsuccessful, prompting a shift to a course aligned with wind from the west — known locally as “the tricky west” for its shifty, difficult nature. Conditions eventually stabilized enough for all classes to complete two races, bringing the regatta to a close.

Across the event, race officials and sailors navigated genuinely tricky conditions, yet the regatta concluded without a single protest brought to the International Jury — a strong showing of clean racing and sportsmanship.
