The commencement of the 2023 ILCA Under 21 European Championships & Open European Trophy event faced a postponement today due to inclement weather characterized by heavy rainfall and strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 knots.
The temperature has considerably lowered to 11 degrees Celsius, resulting in a rather chilly atmosphere here in Stavanger.
The forecast announces fairly similar conditions for tomorrow, although the wind is not expected to exceed 28 knots.
Let’s wait for better conditions to start sailing and enjoy of this wonderful competition.
A total of 228 youth sailors hailing from 36 different nations around the globe are coming together to participate in this competition.
ILCA 7 will be the largest fleet with 153 sailors, racing in two groups; Yellow and Blue in the Qualifying series and Gold and Silver in the Finals.
ILCA 6 Women’s fleet will be composed by 75 sailors racing all together in a single group and no color identification during the whole championship.
In addition to the Under 21 Women’s and Under 21 Men’s competitions, the ILCA 7 Under 19 champions will also be crowned here in Stavanger.
Racing will goes from August 8th to 13th, with 2 races scheduled per day.
