Two new races were added to scores today in Hourtin, under a beautiful sunshine. This way the 2022 EurILCA Under 21 European Championships & Open European Trophy successfully wrapped the second day of competition. The event is organised by Club Voile Hourtin Medoc, with the support of the Municipality of Hourtin.
61 girls and 110 boys from 36 nations are being part of these ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 championships respectively.
The first warning signal was supposed to be at 1300 today but it was only at 1320 when the wind arrived and the competitors were allowed to launch their boats.
The sailing conditions were shifty as yesterday, although the breeze was a little bit stronger, around 7-12 knots.
ILCA 6 results – 2022 EurILCA U21 Europeans
The Spanish girls are shining these days in France after 4 races and holding 4 of the first 5 spots. The overall leader Claudia Adan Lledo ESP (5-
6-6-1) managed to control the fleet again and heads the Women’s competition with 12 points. The second place is now for Isabel Hernandez ESP (11- 38-5-2) with 18. Third place for Shai Kakon ISR (3-13- 23-3) with 19.
The fourth and fifth place are now in hands of Lara Himmes ESP and Claudia Sobral ESP, who was the winner of the first race today.
ILCA 7 results – 2022 EurILCA U21 Europeans
The Australian guys had a great day today and took 2 of the 3 first places in the Trophy’s championship. Michael Compton AUS (
16-2-2-1) is the overall Men’s leader now with 5 points, followed by the first European Theo Peyre FRA (1- 12-5-4) with 10. Stefan Elliot AUS ( 25-4-1-6) is third overall with 11 units.
The fourth place overall is for the North American sailor Daniel Escudero USA with 18. Paul Morvan FRA and Johan Schubert DEN complete the provisional European podium on the places 5th and 6th overall.
The Polish sailor Maxime Thommen POL leads the Men’s Under 19 championship, ranked in the 8th place of the general ranking 5th European.
Two new races are coming tomorrow with the first warning signal at 1100. Coaches meeting at 0900.
