Two new races were held today to complete the first half of the 2022 EurILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Thessaloniki, Greece. This way the Qualifying series concluded with 6 races on scores as per scheduled.
The day started at 11:30 with the coaches meeting. The first races started around 13:30 on both courses, with 5-6 knots and flat water, finally increasing to 9-12 for the last races. All sailors returned to shore around 17:30.
Race day 3 results – Girls
Dutch sailor Roos Wind NED (1-1-4-3-
13-1) consolidated her leadership today with one more win, heading the 106 sailors fleet with 10 points. Eve McMahon IRL ( 13-2-2-4-13-1) and Emma Mattivi ITA (3- 16-1-6-7-6) also secured their 2nd and 3rd positions from yesterday, counting now 22 and 23 points respectively.
Evangelia Karageorgou GRE and Klara Sobczak POL are 4th and 5th overall with 28 and 30 units.
Adriana Castro Nuñez ESP continues to lead the girl’s Under 17 championship, now ranked 6th overall with 30 points. Maria Vittoria Arseni ITA and Line-Annellek Pahler GER complete the provisional U17 podium on places 17th and 31st respectively.
Race day 3 results – Boys
The 284 boy’s overall championship has a new leader, and that’s Ole Schweckendiek GER (2-2-1-2-4-
5) with 11 points. He’s followed just 1 point behind by the Under 17 leader Alexandros Eleftheriadis GRE (1-1-2-2- 12-6) with 12. Third place overall and second U17 for the overnight first Rem Pulci Magen ISR (1-1-1-8-7- 13) with 18.
Marios Stathas GRE is third U17 on place 13th overall with 37 units.
The Final series will start tomorrow and for the last three days, finally deciding our new EurILCA 6 Youth European champions. From now on the fleets will be split in Gold, Silver, Bronze and Emerald for the boys, and Gold and Silver for the girls.
390 youth sailors from 34 nations of all around the World are being part of this competition, organised by Nautical Club of Thessaloniki, Hellenic ILCA Class Association EurILCA, City of Kalamaria and Region of Central Macedonia. The event is kindly sponsored by EPT 3, Superfast Ferries, Grohe, Yamaha, Live Media, Interlife and Coral.
Racing will goes from July 1st to 6th, with 2 scheduled races per day. The first warning signal tomorrow will be at 15:00, with the coaches meeting at 13:00.
