Race day 4 report – 2024 ILCA Under 21 Europeans

The fourth day of competition at the 2024 ILCA Under 21 European Championships & Open European Trophy in Majorca, Spain, was graced with favorable sailing conditions.

Winds fluctuating between 7 to 12 knots facilitated the addition of three new races across all three fleets, bringing the total to eight.

The day witnessed a mix of highs and lows within the fleets, resulting in some shifts at the top of the championships standings.

As the competition enters its final two days, the current provisional leaders stand as follows:


ILCA 6 Championship

Irish sailor Eve McMahon IRL (47-33-12) relinquished her lead in the girl’s division today after maintaining the top position for several days. A subpar performance in the afternoon races pushed her down to third place with 72 points. The new leader is Polish sailor Lilly May Niezabitowska POL (5-2-38) with 33 points, precisely half of the total points held by her closest competitor, Emma Mattivi ITA (44-6-1), who now sits in second place.

Spanish representatives Claudia Adan Lledo ESP (10-7-30) and Marga Perello ESP (24-50-13) complete the top 5 with 75 and 80 points respectively.

ILCA 7 Championship

German sailor Ole Schweckendiek GER (25-54-1) maintains his lead in the boy’s championship with 49 points, although a significant discard now requires him to proceed cautiously in the coming days.

Italian sailor Enrico Tanferna ITA (14-6-8) achieved three good results today and climbed to the second place overall with 60 points.

Despite slipping to third place, French sailor Lorenzo Mayer FRA (5-17-17) delivered a consistently strong performance today, trailing Enrico by just one point.

Israeli sailors Rem Pulci Magen ISR (12-24-2) and Yogev Alcalay ISR (27-4-21) round out the top 5 with 73 and 91 points respectively.

Rem is actually the Under 19 championship’s leader, followed by Luka Zabukovec SLO (43-26-15) and Filip Olszewski POL (14-60-12) in 7th and 17th place overall respectively.
