Two new races were held today on the fifth day of competition of the 2022 EurILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Ten races are counting now in total, with significant changes in the top of the rankings. The last two races will come tomorrow to decide our new 2022 EurILCA 6 Youth European champions.
The weather was once again sunny and hot, with the winds varying from 8-10 knots along the afternoon.
The schedule was exactly as yesterday: 13:00 for the coaches meeting, 15:00 for the first warning signals. After twelve new races, all 6 fleets returned to shore between 17:00-18:00 to relax and enjoy of a pasta meal.
Race day 5 results – Girls
Eve McMahon IRL (3-3) is the new women’s overall leader with 33 points, followed by Emma Mattivi ITA (21-1) and Petra Marendic CRO (1-9) with 45 and 49 points respectively.
The overnight leader Roos Wind NED (14-36) is ranked now 4th overall with 50.
Claudia Adan Lledo ESP (4-5) is fifth with 63.
The girl’s Under 17 championship is still in hands of Adriana Castro Nuñez ESP (6-2), climbing to the 6th place overall with 81 units.
Maria Vittoria Arseni ITA and Signe Brinkert NED complete the provisional U17 girl’s podium with 117 and 204 points respectively.
Race day 5 results – Boys
Alexandros Eleftheriadis GRE (1-46) jumped into the first boy’s place today, leading both the overall and Under 17 championships with 51 points. The previous leader Ole Schweckendiek GER (26-25) is second now with 72. Yogev Alcalay ISR is third with 79 (2-56).
Rem Pulci Magen ISR and Alexandros Ioannidis ISR complete the U17 provisional podium on places 7th and 10th overall respectively. Marios Stathas GRE is 4th U17, tied in 94 points with Alexandros.
The final races will come tomorrow, with the first warning signal at 13:00. Coaches meeting at 11:00.
390 youth sailors from 34 nations of all around the World are being part of this competition, organised by Nautical Club of Thessaloniki, Hellenic ILCA Class Association EurILCA, City of Kalamaria and Region of Central Macedonia. The event is kindly sponsored by EPT 3, Superfast Ferries, Grohe, Yamaha, Live Media, Interlife and Coral.
