Final results – Boys medalists

Polish sailor Jacek Kalinowski POL had an outstanding day on the water, securing a third and a first place, which propelled him from fifth to the top spot overall, earning him the title of 2024 ILCA 6 Youth European champion.

“I feel very good. I didn’t know I could win this regatta. I was thinking maybe top three, so this is a surprise for me. I would like to thank my coach in Poland and my coach here. I would also like to thank Sail Coach and Charter Boat for their help”, said Jacek.

“Today was about having a good start and heading to the left. From there, I tried to be first to the first mark and finish strongly”.

“My plan today was three good races, but we only sailed two races. I was thinking the Italian sailor would be much closer and I would have some trouble, but it was good for me that they went to the right and I went to the left.”

Anders Bultynck BEL and the new Under 17 European champion Alessandro Cirinei ITA joined him on the European overall podium.

Overnight leader Healy Ryan AUS from Australia finished second overall in the Open European Trophy and claimed victory in the Open Under-17 category.

Jan Rohde POL and Federico Cittadini ITA were the European Under-17 silver and bronze medalists.

“I feel very good but I’m not satisfied yet because I was first this morning and I finished 4th”, declared Alessandro.

“Today there were so many shifts and gusts. It was difficult for the sailors to catch the shifts and to feel the boat because there were so many waves that were punching the boat all the time. There was no wind in the final part which made it difficult”
