Nice weather conditions for the first races in Roses, Catalunya, where the 2018 Laser Europa Cup ESP is being held.
2018 Laser Europa Cup ESP – Day 1 results
Wind of around 10 knots governed the afternoon at Roses bay, allowing 3 races per fleet.
The Laser Standard competition is headed by Canadian sailor Filliah Karim CAN (1-1-5), draw in 7 points with U21 leader Alexandre Boite FRA (3-3-1). Third place overall for Swedish sailor Emil Bengston SWE (2-7-2) with 11 units. U19 category among the Laser Standard is led by Spanish Marcelo Cairo ESP (4-8-10) on fifth place overall. 26 athletes participate of this fleet.
The Laser Radial competition is headed by U19 sailor Valtteri Uusitalo FIN (4-2-2), followed by Women’s leader Elena Borobeva CRO (6-7-1) and Laura Oliva Vidal ESP (8-6-3) on provisional overall podium. Dutch sailor Thomas Westerhof NED is first U17 and seventh overall. Ana Moncada ESP is first Women’s U19 on eighth. 68 sailors participate of this championships.
Italian sailor Niccolo Nordera ITA (2-6-1) leads the Laser 4.7 fleet with 9 points, escorted by Greek Georgios Papadakos GRE (3-4-7) with 14. Dutch sailor Paul Hameeteman NED (1-1-14) is third overall and first U16 with 16 units. Fourth place overall and first Women’s spot for U16 sailor Alessia Palanti ITA (12-2-9), followed by U18 sailor Rosine Baudet SUI (18-7-5) on eighth. 68 sailors are being part of this competition.
