Vilamoura delivered great sailing conditions again on this second day of races at the 2020 Laser 4.7 Youth European Championships.
The day started early in the morning with a coaches meeting as usual, where we took the chance to interview some of them and ask about their team’s goals. You can see the video here:

7-9 knots from WSW on the first race and 12-16 knots from the same direction on the second one made all 185 participants to enjoy of two new memorable contests here in Portugal.

Top positions hadn’t changed that much and leaders are barely the same as yesterday. Provisional results after four races here.
Day 2 results – Girls
Defending champion Alessia Palanti CZE (1-1-9-4) is still on top of competition with 6 points, closely followed by Polish sailor Lily May Niezabitowska POL (4-2-27-2), only 2 points behind. On the third place overall and draw in 9 points with Maria Martinez ESP (3-3-35-3) appears now Beatrice Ini ITA (2-6-1-20).
Croatian sailor Petra Marendic CRO (9-7-11-28) continues to lead the U16 fleet, now ranked 7th place overall with 27 points. Second U16 place for Dutch Annemjin Algra NED with 42.
Day 2 results – Boys
Overnight leader Marcos Altarriba ESP (1-1-1-2) almost repeated his perfect beginning and markedly govern the fleet with 3 points, although closely chased by Polish Przemyslaw Machowski POL (4-1-3-1) with 5 and Jason Kefallonitis GRE (2-2-2-3) with 6. Fourth place overall and U16 leadership for Daniel Cardona ESP (2-5-DSQ55-2) with 9 points.

Overnight U16 leader Hidde Schraffordt NED (1-6-3-12) is now second on fleet and ranked 5th overall with 10 points. Third U16 spot for David Ponseti ESP (5-4-6-8) with 15.
