The 2019 Laser Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy started today in Porto, Portugal, with very light wind.
After completing the two first scheduled races, this are the provisional results.
2019 Laser Senior Europeans – Day 1 results – Laser Standard
The 162 World Top Laser Standard sailors participating of this Championships were divide in 3 fleets today, with 4 of them now initially leading the competition with 5 points. Those are Philipp Buhl GER (1-4), Joaquin Blanco ESP (1-4), Niels Broekhuizen NED (3-2) and Finn Lynch IRL (2-3).
One point behind them is Elliot Hanson GBR (5-1) on 5th position with 6. Giovanni Coccoluto ITA (8-2) is 6th overall with 10, followed just 1 point behind by non-European sailors Luke Elliot AUS, Christopher Barnard USA, Stefano Peschiera PER and Matthew Wearn AUS, from 7th to 10th respectively.
2019 Laser Senior Europeans – Day 1 results – Laser Radial Women
Malasian sailor Nor Shazrin Mohamad Latif MAS (1-1) started leading the Women’s Trophy with perfect score, followed by European leader Anne Marie Rindom DEN (2-3). Third place overall and European’s second for Martina Reino ESP (4-2).
Slovenian sailor Lin Pletikos SLO (2-6) is third European, draw in 8 points with Chinese Dongshuang Zhang CHN (7-1) and Argentinian Lucia Falasca ARG (1-7).
Line Flem Host NOR (5-6), Vasileia Karachaliou GRE (10-2), Alison Young GBR (5-8) and Marit Bouwmeester NED (3-11) complete this initial Top 10.

2019 Laser Senior Europeans – Day 1 results – Laser Radial Men
Local sailor Martim Fernandes POR (3-2) started leading the Radial Men and Radial Men Under 21 championships with 5 points, closely followed by Polish Aleksander Arian POL (1-5) with 6. Third place overall and 2nd U21 for Italian sailor Francesco Miseri ITA (2-8) with 10 units. Spanish sailor Gonzalo Pablos ESP (11-13) is third U21 and 7th overall.
