Day 4 report – 2024 ILCA 4 Youth Europeans

28618 2

The breeze has finally graced Izola, Slovenia, on the fourth day of races at the 2024 ILCA 4 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy.

The day commenced with nearly an hour of postponement on shore, followed by another hour on water due to a lack of wind. However, around 13:30, a strong breeze swept in, filling both courses with 15-20 knots.

The Boys’ red and Girls’ yellow groups kicked off the sequence today, with their first race starting around 13:55. Subsequently, all other five groups joined in.

The wind maintained its strength throughout the day, even intensifying by late afternoon, posing additional challenges for the young and courageous sailors during the third set of races.

The current was also very strong today, adding an extra layer of challenge throughout the races, specially rounding mark 1.

With three new races completed and all seven fleets accumulating five scores each, the competition now transitions to the Final series, where sailors will compete in Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Emerald groups.

With two more days of action to come, provisional leaders are as per follows.
