Elliot Hanson GBR (2-1-4-5-9-2-9-51 DSQ-12) wins the 33rd Delta Lloyd Regatta in the Laser class after a fifth place at the medal race. “It was a real close race.”
For the Laser final, the wind was getting stronger. It was a clear start where Croatian Tonci Stipanovic CRO immediately took the lead. He had a bad day so far, so really had to be aggressive in the finals. Unfortunately for him it wasn’t enough, he finishes the medal race in second place and ends up at 5th place overall. British sailor Elliot Hanson finished 6th in the medal race, enough to take the gold. “It was a real close race, I was happy to get back into the race. First lap was a bit shaky, but I had a good last two laps with a good speed.”
Second place was for Charlie Buckingham USA (4-5-1-4-15-10-36-1-10). Third place for Matthew Wearn AUS (4-4-3-1-25-51 BFD-12-7-2), who made a great come back after a tough day yesterday.
