Riva del Garda – First a long wait, then the entry of a weak and unstable Ora who soon got stronger, allowing one of the two races to take place for all fleets. One regatta, the seventh valid for the 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup ITA, decisive, judging by the numerous changes that have occurred in the rankings of all groups.
Among the ILCA 4s, Alessandro Cortese wins despite a slight decline in the final phase of the race: the Club Velico Crotone’s sailor saw several opponents behind him and was joined on the podium by Giuliano Trobia of the Circolo Nautico Nic, ten points behind, and by the very young Mattia Di Lorenzo of Fraglia Vela Riva.
Among the ILCA 6s which, we recall, in the women’s version is an Olympic class, the success of the Czech Alessia Palanti was recorded: in the lead from the first day, she kept in Emma Mattivi’s slipstream, who finished six points ahead of Maria Vittoria Arseni of Tognazzi Marine Village, to whom the second remedied in the final round was not enough to overtake the sailor of Fraglia Vela Riva. However, in the men’s field, Antonio Pascali dominated: by winning six out of seven races, the Fraglia Vela Riva athlete lined up with his teammate Mattia Cesana and the Sweden Erik Norlen.
Among the ILCA 7s, single Olympic class, the victory went to the Peruvian Stefano Peschiera who, in command since the first race, stood up to the attempts of the Australian Alexander Finn, who concluded his race in second place ahead of Attilio Borio, third with a good margin over Alessio Spadoni of the Società Triestina della Vela.
Organized by Fraglia Vela Riva in collaboration with EurILCA, the 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup ITA ended with the award ceremony, staged at the Spiaggia degli Ulivi.
