The Club Nàutic L’Escala will host the 2022 European Masters Championship of the ILCA dinghy class.
The Club Nàutic l’Escala has been chosen by EurILCA, the European association of the ILCA class, to become the venue for the 2022 European Championship of the Master division (over 35 years old) of this solo dinghy sailing boat.
This year’s EurILCA Masters European Championship will fill the sea of Empúries with sails between October 7 and 13. For a week, L’Escala, the Costa Brava and Girona will become the center of action of the international dinghy sailing.
The organization calculates that the competition will attract between 200 and 250 sailors, representing up to 15 countries from all over Europe and other parts of the world. The last edition had entries from countries such as the United States, Russia, Canada or Argentina.
The organization, which will be made up of about 40 people including Club staff, jurys and volunteers, estimates that the event will have a direct impact of 175,000 direct euros during the seven days of competition.
The championship will be resolved in five days of racing. The first two days will be reserved for the inscriptions confirmation, measurements and the inaugural ceremony. The social program will also include other meeting times for sailors to enjoy the port and L’Escala sharing their experiences on the water.
The EurILCA Masters European Championship 2022 will be held between October 7 and 13 under the organization of Club Nàutic L’Escala and EurILCA. It will receive the institutional support of the Costa Brava Tourist Board, the Girona Provincial Council, the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, the Sports Council of the Government of Spain, the Catalan Sailing Federation, Ports de la Generalitat, the General Secretariat of Sport and Physical Education of the Government of Catalonia and the City Council of L’Escala. It will also count on the collaboration of the companies Camping La Ballena Alegre, L’Escala Resort, Vacances Costa Brava and Novaimport, among others.
