Finally the wind arrived to Travemünde today, where the 2021 EurILCA 4.7 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy are being held.
This third day of competition brought champagne sailing conditions and no rain for all 380 sailors to enjoy their first 3 races on championship.
There were 18 races in total today, with a South West breeze slowly building in the afternoon from 7 to 13 knots, and even 19 knots in the gusts. Mostly flat water due to wind coming from shore.
Girl’s championships
Croatian sailor Helena Jaksic CRO showed an excellent performance today, scoring three top 10 results and leading the overall competition with 13 points. Mar Betancort ESP and Gaia Fabris ITA escorted her on podium with 18 and 28 points respectively.
Girl’s Under 16 championship is headed by Polish Aleksandra Borucka POL with 13 points on the 6th place overall. Josephine Koep GER and Argyro Kouravelou GRE –winner of the third race today– complete the U16 provisional podium on places 8th and 10th on the main rank.
Boy’s championships
Italian sailor Luca Centazzo ITA had also an impressive performance on this first day of competition, winning the first race and and scoring two other top 10 results to lead both the overall and U16 boy’s championships with 13 points.
Athanasios Kyfidis GRE and Tymoteusz Wysocki POL are second and third overall with 15 points.
Vladislav Alekhin RUS and Jacek Kalinowski POL complete the Under 16 provisional podium on places 5th and 12th overall.
Three more days of racing are coming until Friday 30th, when we’ll meet our new 2021 4.7 Youth European champions!
