European sailors confirmed their leading role in youth sailing at the 2025 ILCA U21 World Championships, capturing seven of the nine medals across the three main divisions. The event brought together some of the best young talent in the world, but Europe stood out as the strongest region throughout the week.
Women’s Under-21
The women’s fleet was led by Roos Wind NED of the Netherlands, who delivered an outstanding performance and secured the world title with 43 points, nearly 30 clear of second place. Italy’s Emma Mattivi ITA took silver with 71 points, while Australia’s Frances Beebe AUS completed the podium in third.
Italy showed further depth with Ginevra Caracciolo Di Brienza ITA in fourth and Maria Victoria Arseni ITA in sixth. Europe also filled much of the top ten, with Romi Safin EST of Estonia in eighth, Spain’s Marga Perello ESP in ninth, and Hermione Ghicas GRE of Greece in tenth.

Men’s Under-21
In the men’s division, Germany’s Ole Schweckendiek GER dominated the fleet and claimed gold with a 10-point margin over silver medallist Isaac Schotte AUS of Australia. Greece secured bronze through Athanasios Kyfidis GRE, adding another medal for Europe.
European sailors filled much of the leaderboard, with Israel’s Reem Pulci Magen ISR in sixth, Denmark’s Mark Hestbaek DEN in seventh, Erik Norlen SWE of Sweden in eighth, and Poland’s Filip Olszewski POL in ninth.

Israel secured the under-19 title, with Omer Vered Vilenchik ISR taking gold. Spain’s Karol Krupski Teterycz ESP claimed silver, while Greece’s Adamantios Petrianos GRE completed the podium in bronze position.
Europe continued to dominate the leaderboard, with Daniel Gimenez Mesquida ESP of Spain in fourth, Jan Rohde POL of Poland in fifth, Bartol Jocic CRO of Croatia in sixth, Leonardo Locci ITA of Italy in seventh, and Germany’s Franz Lasch GER in ninth.
