Big swell and light winds marked fifth day of races for sailors fighting for the 2017 Laser Senior European Championships in Barcelona.

Lazy start this morning, where wind became shifty and dropped to 2 knots in noon. Finally around 14:30 a Northern breeze came in and sailors were sent to water for racing.

Marit Bouwmeester NED consolidated her advantage in Radial Women’s championship but Radial Men’s and Standard fleet are showing now tighten scores among top sailors, so last races tomorrow promise to be great.

Laser Standard – Results after 9 races

Overnight leader Tonci Stipanovic CRO (1-1-1-4-2-4-21-51-20) had a terrible day but he’s still on fight on second place with 54 points, just 6 behind new leader Francesco Marrai ITA (8-3-16-3-11-8-7-7-1) with 48.

Third to seventh are just separated by 4 points, with Giovanni Coccoluto ITA (2-1-7-37-5-13-1-11-15) on third with 55 units, and Philipp Buhl GER (9-10-8-2-1-14-42-9-6) on ninth with 59.

Between them we have Pavlos Kontides CYP (7-4-12-1-6-24-4-4-18) in fourth with 56, and Andrew McKenzie NZL (2-2-11-1-2-38-11-12-17) and Nick Thompson GBR (8-10-13-2-4-9-BFD-10-2) draw in 58.

So any of them could be the 2017 European champion tomorrow, and falling or rising the podium.
