Sunny weather and steady winds of 9 to 12 knots brightened the penultimate day of racing at the 2025 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Vilamoura, Portugal.

Two new races were added to the scores today, bringing the total to 10 as scheduled. Tomorrow marks the final day of competition, when the new ILCA 6 Youth European champions will be crowned.

Provisional results are as follows:

Girls’ results – Overall

The top three positions in the women’s overall fleet remained unchanged today. Hermione Ghicas GRE –reigning ILCA 6 Youth Under 17 European Champion– extended her lead for another day, showing impressive consistency throughout the championship. With scores of 1 and 6 today, she now tops the standings with 21 points after 10 races.

Her path to the title would be clearer at this point if it weren’t for her closest challenger, Sienna Wright IRL –reigning ILCA 6 Youth Under 17 World Champion and last year’s U17 European bronze medalist– who has also delivered an impressive and consistent performance throughout the event. With scores of 2 and 8 today (the 8th being her worst and discarded race), she currently sits second overall, just 7 points behind the leader.

On the other hand, it wasn’t the best day for Alina Shapovalova UKR –reigning ILCA 6 Youth European Champion– who posted finishes of 11 and 27.
