One more time our Youth European sailors have proven to be the best in the World, winning all 4 Gold medals this year at the 2022 ILCA 6 Youth World Championships in Texas, United States.
In the Women’s fleet, the main Gold medal was for our recent 2022 EurILCA 6 European champion in Thessaloniki, the Irish sailor Eve McMahon IRL, winning 8 of the 11 races held and wrapping the event with just 13 points. This is the second ILCA 6 Youth World title for her after winning last year’s edition in Italy.
The Spanish representative Marga Perello ESP was the Under 17 champion, finishing 4th overall with 53. She was also the 2021 ILCA 6 Youth World U17 champion in Italy, so second ILCA 6 Youth World title in a row for both of them!
Linda Hensel GER and Tea Peteh CRO escorted Eve in the main podium, winning the Silver and Bronze prizes.
In the Men’s fleet, the 2021 ILCA 6 Youth World overall and Under 17 champion Mattia Cessana ITA made it again and conquered also his second consecutive ILCA 6 Youth World championship, although this time only the overall title.
The Under 17 World title this year went to Italy anyway, with Antonio Pascali ITA finishing 12th overall among 156 competitors.
Erik Norlén SWE from Sweden was second overall among the Men’s fleet and won the Silver medal.
