UKR sailors lead all 5 Europa Cup ahead of final 2 regattas

After completing eight regattas with only two more to go (in Malta and Croatia), Ukrainian sailors are currently leading in all five 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup championships: ILCA 4 Girls, ILCA 4 Boys, ILCA 6 Girls, ILCA 6 Boys, and ILCA 7.

The competitors’ overall ranking scores are determined by the sum of their best three (lowest) scores from the 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup regattas. At the conclusion of the year, the top five sailors in each category will be crowned as the 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup champions and will receive a brand new sail as their award.

ILCA 4 Girls provisional results

Varvara Postrelko UKR is actually leading the I4 Girl’s fleet with 19 points, closely followed by Sara Lacko HUN with 21, and Shana Burger SUI and Nika Fornazar CRO with 23 units. Full results here.

ILCA 4 Boys provisional results

Semen Sokol UKR is I4 Boy’s leader with 9 points, followed by Archie Munro-Price GBR and Lars Dittel SUI, with 14 and 16 points respectively. Full results here.

ILCA 6 Girls provisional results

Reigning 2022 champion Sofiia Naumenko UKR heads the I6 Girl’s trophy with 20 points, immediately followed by Aleksandra Vujosevic SRB and Dorotea Spisic CRO with 21 and 26 units respectively.

ILCA 6 Boys provisional results

Ukranian sailors are dominating the I6 Boy’s championship in full, with Bohdan Rukhlin UKR, Ivan Antipin UKR (2022 champion) and Semen Khashchyna UKR on top 3 places with 4, 13 and 17 units respectively. Full results here.

ILCA 7 provisional results

If all the aforementioned wasn’t sufficient to showcase Ukrainian dominance in this year’s Europa Cup, in the ILCA 7 category, the top five positions are currently held by UKR sailors. These outstanding competitors include Valeriy Kudryashov UKR (10 pt), Nazar Artiukh UKR (16), Oskar Madonich UKR (30 pt and reigning 2022 champion), Andrii Lipchenko UKR (40) and Stanislav Mulko UKR (56). Full results here.

Despite these results, nothing is said until the final 2 events in December. Keep in mind that only the best three scores are being considered, which means that anyone with a first-place finish along with some not so solid results could potentially end up with a perfect score of just three points, making them virtually unbeatable if they secure victories in Malta and Croatia.

Registration for both events is currently open, so seize this opportunity and apply now to fight for the medals and sail prizes that will be awarded at the end of the season!
