The third day of racing at the 2026 ILCA Senior European Championships in Kaštela began right on schedule at 12:00, with both race courses getting underway in steady Adriatic conditions of around 11 knots and a one-meter wave.
The opening set of races for all three fleets was completed in consistent breeze, allowing smooth racing across the courses. Conditions later built into a fantastic afternoon of sailing, with winds ranging between 11 and 16 knots as the second set of races got underway.
However, a strong thunderstorm suddenly approached the race area during the afternoon. For safety reasons, the Race Committee abandoned the races in progress and sent all sailors back ashore.
Only the ILCA 6 Women fleet managed to complete its second race of the day before the storm interruption.
Three races per fleet had originally been scheduled, but the weather disruption brought the Qualifying Series to an earlier conclusion. The ILCA 6 Women completed five qualifying races in total, while the ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 Men fleets concluded qualifying with four races each.
The championship now moves into the Final Series, which begins tomorrow and continues over the next three days.
Fleet divisions for the Finals will be as follows:
- ILCA 7: Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets
- ILCA 6 Women: Gold and Silver fleets
- ILCA 6 Men: Single fleet
Live tracking will also be introduced for the Gold fleets during the final three days of competition, allowing followers around the world to track the racing live.
