The penultimate event of the 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup Trophy started yesterday in Mellieha Bay, Malta, hosted by Malta Young Sailors Club.
The first day of competition was marked by light breeze and a residual swell from NE, making the sailing conditions very challenging for both the sailors and the organising authorities. Nevertheless, the Race Committee successfully conducted three races across all three fleets.
Regrettably, adverse weather conditions have led to the cancellation of today’s racing. The organizing authority is diligently working to optimize opportunities for additional races in the upcoming days. The event is scheduled to continue until Tuesday, the 19th.
Day 1 results – 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup MLT
ILCA 4 is the largest fleet in Malta with 38 participants. After the first 3 races, it’s Hungarian sailor Sára Lackó HUN who lead both the overall and Girl’s championship with 6 points (1-2-3), closely followed by Croatians Vito Fili CRO (6-1-1) and Edi Jurman CRO (3-3-2), who are leading the Boy’s competition sharing 8 points.

In the ILCA 6, with 32 sailors on course, it’s Tea Peteh CRO who’s leading the overall and Girl’s fleet with 14 points (1-5-8), followed by Boy’s leader Kenan Tan SGP from Singapur with 16 (11-4-1). Third place overall and Girl’s second for Alexandra Lukoyanova BUL with 18 (5-11-2).
