Day 1: A Slow Start, But High Spirits

The weather was ideal for a beach day, though the wind wasn’t as cooperative for sailing. Despite the less-than-perfect forecasts, 14 ILCA 6 and 8 ILCA 7 boats made it to the start. The wind kicked off at 4-5 knots, giving hope for a good race, but soon dropped to 3 knots, causing the race to be abandoned. Sailors were towed back to the harbour, but there was optimism for a later race—though it didn’t materialise, the mood stayed upbeat. The day ended on a high note with everyone gathering to watch the Switzerland-Spain women’s football match.

Day 2: Waiting for Wind, Enjoying Community

Day 2 mirrored the previous one, with no wind in sight. The AP flag stayed up until 2:15 PM, and stormy weather brought gusts of up to 30 knots by mid-afternoon. By 5:00 PM, the skies cleared, but the wind remained absent. Still, the sailors gathered for a hearty meal prepared by the local sailing club, followed by a thrilling Germany vs. France football match, where Germany won after penalties, delighting the German participants.

Day 3: The Fog Never Lifts

On Day 3, grey skies and mist greeted sailors as they awoke, with no wind in sight. At 9:00 AM, the AP flag was hoisted, and the fleet waited for the fog to lift and the wind to pick up. By 11:00 AM, it became clear that taking to the water was futile. It was a rare experience—three days without any racing.

Despite the lack of sailing, the event’s highlight was the warm hospitality of the local sailing club. With no races or results to announce, the award ceremony turned into a fun raffle, where sailors won various local delicacies.
