The first of the 2023 EurILCA Europa Cup Trophy regattas concluded yesterday at Jadro Koper Sailing Club in Slovenia.
143 ILCA 7, ILCA 6 and ILCA 4 sailors competed for 3 days under unstable sailing conditions in Koper Bay. Despite the fact that the winds changed direction several times a day, the Race Committee managed to carry out almost the entire planned program; the 8 scheduled for the ILCA 7 class and 7 for the ILCA 6 and ILCA 4.
On Friday, first day of the competition, sailors sailed with a southwesterly wind. On Saturday, one race was sailed with a southwesterly wind and two more with a northeasterly and easterly wind. On the last day, sailors had to wait for favourable conditions until 14:00, when the southwesterly wind picked up again, which allowed the race to finish on time.
