The 2021 EurILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy were officially launched this afternoon at the Opening Ceremony in the Port of Varna.
This is the first main competition on the new Olympic cycle. Many of recent top sailors in Tokyo will be part of the competition, such as Pavlos Kontides from Cyprus (4th at the Olympics), Line Flem Host from Norway (8th) or Basileia Carahaliou from Greece (9th). Many of youth World and European medallists will be also joining the championships, on their first move to fight for an Olympic spot in Paris 2024.
220 sailors from 45 different nations are here in Varna to enjoy of this wonderful competition in the ILCA 7, ILCA 6 Women, ILCA 6 Men and ILCA 6 Men’s Under 21 classes.
After two days of registration and measurement, everything is ready now for the racing to start tomorrow as per scheduled. The first warning signal will be at 12:00 for the ILCA 7 Yellow fleet, followed immediately later by the Blue one. 13:30 will be the first warning signal for Women’s ILCA 6, followed then by Men’s. Coaches meeting will be at 09:30 at the stage in the club. You can check all this information daily in the Official Notice Board.
