Tough and challenging day today for young sailors competing at 2017 European Laser 4.7 Youth Championships in Los Alcázares, Spain.
Third day of races came with strong +20 knots, before light wind condition experienced on first two days of competition.
Every of fleets could complete two new races, so rankings have experienced substancial changes, now showing all 6 scheduled races.
We’re at half of competition and forecast announces more windy days coming until the end of tournament. So event is just warming up! 😉
Laser 4.7 Europeans – Boy’s results – Day 3
Boys are now led by Turkish sailor Yigit Yalcin Citak TUR (3-12-2-5-3-1) with 14 points, followed by Pere Ponseti ESP (5-5-6-15-1-2) and Semen Mekhanikov RUS (3-8-1-27-2-7), with 19 and 21 units respectively.
Cesare Barabino ITA (9-1-4-11-12-8) heads U16 boys ranking now with 33 points (10th overall), followed by Niccolo Nordera ITA (6-2-2-4-39-19) on second (11th overall).
Laser 4.7 Europeans – Girl’s results – Day 3
First girl’s place overall is now for Italian sailor Federica Cattarozzi ITA (4-3-14-7-1-1), scoring a perfect day and leading with 16 units, escorted by previous overall leader Giorgia Cingolani ITA (7-1-1-1-9-UFD52) who’s even heading U16 category with 19 points. Second U16 place is for Shai Kakon ISR (5-5-3-16-7-3) with 23 (4th overall).
Third place overall is for Catherine Havenga ESP (8-2-8-3-4-4) with 21 units, showing great consistency on both light and strong wind conditions, achieving a valuable 8 pt discard up to date with chances to scale to even higher positions.
