The European and Asian Regions of the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) are pleased to announce a new partnership project designed to strengthen international connections and create exciting opportunities for top ILCA 6 youth sailors.
Europe to Asia – 2026 ILCA Asian Open Championship
At the upcoming 2026 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships to be held from 10-18 July in Athens, Greece, the:
- First European Girl overall
- First European Boy overall
will be invited to compete in mid December in the 2026 ILCA Asian Open Championship to be held in Pattaya, Thailand.
They will receive:
- Free Entry
- Free Charter Boat
The Asian event will take place in Pattaya, Thailand, providing a fantastic opportunity to experience international competition in a new environment and to build friendships across continents.
Asia to Europe – 2027 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy
In return, at the 2026 ILCA Asian Open Championship held in Pattaya, Thailand, the:
- First Asian Girl
- First Asian Boy
will qualify to compete at the 2027 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy to be held in Alicante, Spain.
They will receive:
- Free Entry
- Free Charter Boat
Passing Down the Opportunity
If the first eligible Boy or Girl from the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth European Championships is unable to attend the event in Thailand, the opportunity will pass to the second, and if necessary, the third-placed sailor.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of the European and Asian Regions of ILCA to support youth development, encourage international racing experience, and strengthen cooperation between our continents.
We look forward to seeing our top sailors represent Europe in Pattaya — and to welcoming Asia’s best to the 2027 ILCA 6 Youth Europeans.
