The Final series racing started today at the 2019 Laser Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy in Porto, Portugal.
Two new races were added to scores, being 8 now in total as per scheduled.
2019 Laser Senior Europeans – Day 4 results – Laser Standard
Tighten competition on top of the Laser Standard fleet, with British sailor Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR leading the Europeans with 32 points, followed 11 points behind by Pavlos Kontides CYP and Philipp Buhl GER with 43. Very close to them is Michael Beckett GBR in 4th with 45.
Elliot Hanson GBR and Nick Thompson GBR comes on 5th and 6th places with 50 and 54 points respectively, making the British squad hold 4 of the 6 first European spots.
Reigning Olympic Gold medalist Tom Burton AUS is comfortably leading now the European Trophy with 16 points. Matthew Wearn AUS is third on Trophy behind Chiavarini with 40 units.
2019 Laser Senior Europeans – Day 4 results – Laser Radial Women
Impressive performance is showing the Danish sailor Anne Marie Rindom DEN this week in Porto, discarding just a 3rd after the first 8 races and comfortably leading both European and Trophy championships with 13 points. She can’t relax anyway cause of being chased by reigning Olympic Gold medalist Marit Bouwmeester NED and reigning World champion Emma Plasschaert BEL on second and third overall with 46 and 51 units respectively.
Daphne Van Der Vaart NED and Tuula Tenkanen FIN are also close, with 56 and 57 points respectively.
2019 Laser Senior Europeans – Day 4 results – Laser Radial Men
Polish sailors Aleksander Arian POL and Marcin Rudawski POL continue to head the Radial Men’s Europeans with 23 and 33 points respectively. Third place overall for British Ben Elvin GBR with 57.
Fourth overall and first U21 is the Italian Andrea Crisi ITA with 58.3 points. Irish Jamie McMahon IRL and Russian Kiriil Tereshkin RUS are 2nd and 3rd Under 21 with 59 and 78 points respectively.
