Today, Saturday October 8, has been the official opening day of the 2022 Master Europeans Championships at Club Nàutic l’Escala. After a morning dedicated to finishing with the registration and measurements of the last sailors and holding the first training regatta, at 6:00 p.m. the championship opening ceremony took place.
The event, which was held in the regatta Village, was attended by Gerard Marín, commodore of the Club Nàutic L’Escala; Alan Davis, the EurILCA Master Coordinator; the vice president of the Catalan Sailing Federation Josep Maria Isern and the mayor of L’Escala Josep Bofill.
After the speeches, the culminating moment arrived: the hoisting of the class flag on the signal mast. Finally, sailors, companions, organization and guests have been able to enjoy an appetizer during which the anchovies of L’Escala, ambassadors of the venue town, have been the protagonists.
This moment of celebration kicks off the 2022 Master Europeans Championships, which will begin its scoring race at the rate of two scheduled per day until next October 13. We will have to wait, then, five days of competition, to meet the absolute winners and of the different categories of the regatta.
The Club Nàutic l’Escala organizes the 2022 EurILCA Master European Championships after being selected by EurILCA (ILCA European Region) last April.
The regatta has the collaboration of the General Secretariat for Sport and Physical Activity of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Girona Provincial Council, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the City Council of L’Escala, as well as Ports of the Generalitat, the Catalan Sailing Federation and the Spanish Association of the ILCA Class.
