The final day of competition in Athens, Greece, was graced by wonderful sailing conditions, bringing brilliance to the 2024 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy.

Meet the ILCA 6 Women’s medalists

Maria Erdi of Hungary clinched her first-ever European championship title, adding to her accolades as the reigning World champion from the previous year in The Hague. This marks her second European medal, following her bronze achievement in Andora, Italy, in 2023. Securing victory in the Medal Race, she concluded the championship with 21 points after seven races.

I’m very happy cause it has been very tough conditions all week and I wanted to see how I can go when the wind is so unpredictable and I think it’s was also very difficult today cause the points were so closed, so I was just trying to sail my own race and luckily I, it was really tough on the first beat because big group was going to the left but I trusted the right side and it worked so, I was very happy that I could stay calm and trust what I see it was happening so yeah, very happy to now be European champion – Maria Erdi HUN.

Viktorija Andrulyte of Lithuania secured second place with 27 points, earning the Silver medal along with qualification for Paris 2024.

The Bronze medal went to French sailor Louise Cervera, who amassed 29 points.

Croatia’s Elena Vorobeva finished fourth overall, clinching the second Olympic spot at stake in this championship.
