With the entries fully booked in advance, the 2023 ILCA Under 21 European Championships & Open European Trophy are ready to dazzle in Stavanger, Norway, on next week. The event will run from August 6th to 13th 2023 at Stavanger Seilforening.
155 ILCA 7 and 75 ILCA 6 Women’s sailors have eagerly joined the competition, organised by EurILCA in collaboration with the fore-mentioned club.
28 European and 8 non European countries will be represented on water, with Great Britain being the largest team with 23 sailors, followed by Germany (22), Italy (21) and Spain (19). Notably, the locals will also put on a strong showing with 16 sailors competing, making them the 5th largest fleet.
Among the participants, 59 talented sailors will vie for both the Under 21 and the Under 19 prizes, making the competition even more intense and exciting.
Spectators can expect top-level racing as the event features some of the best youth sailors in the world, including the recent 2023 ILCA 6 Youth World and/or European medalists Emma Mattivi ITA, Roos Wind NED, Petra Marendic CRO, Massimiliano Antoniazzi ITA and Erik Norlén SWE, plus many of last year’s ILCA Under 21 World or European medalists Pia Conradi GER, Claudia Adan Lledo ESP, Jose Mendes POR, Lorenzo Mayer FRA and Theodor Middelthon NOR.
