Perfect 2017 for the Laser class in Europe winning all the World titles!

2017 couldn’t be better for the Laser class in Europe. Sailors from 9 European nations (ITA, TUR, HUN, ESP, GER, GRE, NED, POL and CYP) won almost all the 2017 Laser World titles!

Let’s review them all and congratulate again our brave representatives, while we wait for the Master’s Worlds starting tomorrow to wrap this successful campaign!

2017 Laser 4.7 Youth World Championships

2017 Laser World Championships started with our youngest sailor’s event, the Laser 4.7 Youth Worlds in Nieuwpoort, Belgium, from July 16-24.

In the Girl’s fleet was our current 2017 Laser 4.7 European champion in Murcia, Federica Cattarozzi ITA, who ratified her great sailing among world competitors and crowned Women’s Laser 4.7 Youth World champion. She was escorted in podium by U16 World champion Giorgia Cingolani ITA. Ana Moncada ESP was also part of podium in third place overall.

4.7 Boy’s podium was also occupied by Europeans. Yilkan Timursah TUR was Men’s World overall champion, followed by Sofiane Karim FRA. Our current 2017 Laser 4.7 European U16 champion in Murcia, Cesare Barabino ITA, could also repeat his great performance and get World U16 championship title, finishing third overall.

2017 Laser Standard Men and Radial Women Under-21 World Championships

Right after 4.7 Youth championships we had the 2017 Laser Standard Men and Radial Women Under-21 World Championships also in Nieuwpoort, Belgium, from July 26-August 2.

Maria Erdi HUN was the Women’s World champion overall, escorted by Hannah Anderssohn GER and Magdalena Kwasna POL in podium.

Standard U21 Worlds were also dominated by European sailors with Joel Rodriguez Perez ESP winning Men’s championship, and followed by Jonatan Vadnai HUN and Daniel Whiteley GBR in podium.

2017 Laser Radial Youth World Championships

In August we moved to Medemblik, Netherlands, where we started with the Radial Youth championships, from Aug.11-18.

Hannah Anderssohn GER and Dimitris Papadimitriou GRE were the overall World champions here. Matilda Nichols GBR was first in girl’s U17 fleet, finishing 10th overall. Nicholas Bezy HKG from Hong Kong was first among U17 boys and the only non-european World champion this year.

2017 Laser Radial Women’s and Radial Men’s World Championships

Right after the Radial Youths we had the Senior’s Radial world championships in Medemblik, from August 19-26.

Marit Bouwmeester NED was crowned 2017 Women’s World champion, escorted by Evi Van Acker BEL.

Marcin Rudawski POL was the Radial Men’s champion, followed by Eliot Merceron SUI.

2017 Laser Standard Men’s World Championship

Just 3 days ago we received the last 2017 great news coming from Split, Croatia, where Pavlos Kontides CYP was crowned 2017 Laser Men’s World champion, confirming 2017 European supremacy in the Laser class.
