Great sailing conditions today for closing the 2019 Laser Radial Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy in Athens, Greece. Probably the best ones in the whole week. Forecast was not that good, predicting none to very light wind, but finally Eolo arrived and put things in order building a nice sea breeze in the afternoon for wrapping this championships in a fair way.
Gold girl’s fleet concluded the event with 10 races, while Gold boy’s did it with 9.
Spanish sailor Ana Moncada ESP (1-5-7-2-
11-7-5-2-7-1) is finally our new 2019 Laser Radial Youth European champion, finishing tournament in top overall with 37 points.
Second place overall for Eline Verstraelen BEL (7-1-12-3-9-1-1-6-
15-3) with 43. Bronze medal for Swiss sailor Rosine Baudet SUI with 48.
Overnight girl’s leader Marilena Makri CYP (1-2-1-3-5-8-
DSQ54-1-14-31) had a bad performance today and finally concluded championship in fourth place overall with 66 units.
Alessia Palanti CZE was finally girl’s Under 17 champion with 104 points and ranked 11th overall, escorted by Dutch sailor Marissa Ijben NED with 116 and Alexandra Lukoyanova RUS with 142 units.
French sailor Sofiane Karim FRA (1-3-3-2-6-
30-10-16-8) managed to keep pole position today and crowned new 2019 Laser Radial Youth European champion among Boy’s with 49 points, escorted by first and second Under 17 sailors Jordi Llado Duran ESP and Przemyslaw Machowski POL with 63 and 65 points respectively. Third U17 place for Yoav Kfir ISR with 73 and ranked 5th overall.
Next 2020 Laser Radial Youth European Championships and Open European Trophy will be in Ballyholme, Ireland, from July 4-11 of 2020.
